Right Change: The DNC’s Speaker Lineup

What do politicians do when they are no longer in office? Their support for big government and progressive ideas end their shot at being re-elected by their constituencies and they fail at running as independents? Some throw their weight behind President Obama and headline his Democratic National Convention off course!

Sunday, Charlie Christ completed his transformation from Republican Governor to unemployed politician jumping on the Obama band wagon. I guess that makes sense considering the only jobs to be had are in Obama’s oversized suffocating government.

The New York Times reports:

Florida Republican Party, Lenny Curry, derided that endorsement as Mr. Crist’s effort to “shed his skin for a political comeback.”

Mr. Crist, who hails from nearby St. Petersburg, was once seen as a rising Republican star whose endorsement was sought by several of the party’s presidential candidates in 2008. But he fell out of favor in 2009 when he embraced President Obama’s economic stimulus efforts, and he ran for the Senate as an independent in 2010 after it appeared he would lose the Republican primary to Marco Rubio, the Tea Party-backed candidate. Mr. Rubio, now the junior senator from Florida, is scheduled to introduce Mitt Romney at the Republican National Convention here on Thursday.

If you want a good laugh, here you go. Below is an excerpt from Christ’s op-ed in the Tampa Bay Times:

“As America prepares to pick our president for the next four years — and as Florida prepares once again to play a decisive role — I'm confident that President Barack Obama is the right leader for our state and the nation. I applaud and share his vision of a future built by a strong and confident middle class in an economy that gives us the opportunity to reap prosperity through hard work and personal responsibility. It is a vision of the future proven right by our history.”

It sounds like Charlie is pretty confused. He does realize the middle class is suffering with over 41 straight months of over 8% unemployment, housing prices are still no where near recovering, job creation isn’t even keeping up with monthly population demand (by higher unemployment last month) and there is little confidence that things are getting better?

Considering the fact Christ seems to have no idea of how bad a state our country is in economically or how to fix it, he is a great choice for the DNC. Throw him in there with Sandra Fluke and it is no wonder that more and more Americans are loosing respect and confidence in the current administration.
