RightChange: Obama Says He Restored America’s Image as “Sole, Indispensable Power”

At the start of his Presidency, Barack Obama received the Nobel Peace for his “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.”  He accepted the honor and said he was “surprised” and “deeply humbled.”  Even he knew did nothing to deserve it.  What he may not have known is that this “peace” prize was nothing but an honor he would fail to earn.

Fast-forward to three years later and the narrative Obama is proclaiming emphasizes his success in transforming America’s efforts around the world. It certainly was a transformation.

The “man of the people” told a group of donors at a $5,000 plate dinner that he is responsible for restoring a “sense of America as the sole, indispensable power.”  That’s a pretty arrogant statement coming from a man who has led from behind on every global issue he has been confronted with.

The first opportunity he had to show the world America was a sole power in defending freedom was during Iran’s 2009 elections. Iranians demanded freedom and protested a corrupt election as Iranians soldiers shot them in the streets. President Obama expressed his “deep concerns,” but failed to intervene.

Since then, there have been plenty of opportunities for Obama to show the world what an indispensable power America is.

Iran has moved undeterred toward realizing a nuclear program while harboring Al-Qaeda operatives who want to perform guerilla-style attacks against the U.S.    They aren’t the only ones.  North Korea has been performing long-range missile tests capable of hitting the U.S. with a growing enrichment facility.

What did Obama focus on instead?  He ratified the START treaty during a lame duck session of Congress which made an agreement between Russia and the U.S. to cut back missile defense spending.  It also gave Russia a pass to back out of the treaty whenever they wanted.  As Iran and North Korea threaten the safety of Americans, President Obama wasted his time on a do-nothing treaty to save a quick buck.  By the way, Russia has since threatened to back out of the treaty.  Way to show them, Obama.

Another perfect example of Obama’s weak foreign policy is his handling of Iran.  Ever since his tepid response to their elections, Iran has moved forward with open threats against the United States and the entire world.  They captured a U.S. drone, displayed it on their state run television, hijacked U.S. intelligence and sent a toy size replicate drone to Obama as a joke – a gesture that should tell you just how “indispensable” Iran views Americas role in the world.

He has focused so hard on appeasing Iran that he’s practically hung Israel out to dry.  Keeping in mind that Iran has vowed to blow Israel off the face of this earth, Obama endorsed the Palestinian demand for Israel to go back to its 1967 borders at the same time he announced he would be giving billions of dollars in aid to Middle Eastern countries being led by the Muslim Brotherhood.  In order to appease questionable nations, Obama snubbed our longtime ally.

When George W. Bush exited, he left Obama with a country that was viewed as the sole indispensable power.  He also left Obama with eight years of solid work tracking down Osama bin Laden.  Although Obama deserves credit for deciding to kill bin Laden, he does not deserve the credit for all of the policies that led us to him.  According to Obama, those are the very policies that caused global hostility towards America in the first place.  You cannot have one without the other.

Nations that threatened the freedom and security of the global community feared America’s role in preserving such freedoms until Obama showed up.  In three years, he managed to weaken that fear, distance us from our allies, and make us a laughing stock to Iran.  After all of that, we cannot figure out how Obama can say what he did a couple of weeks ago with a straight face.

As Obama speaks his arrogant words, he has to be praying that Israel doesn’t attack Iran.  That would cause a global fiasco that Obama would have no choice but to get involved in.  If anything, the global community views him as a pushover who cares more about his reelection than security.

Coincidentally, the Nobel peace prize officials are under investigation over accusations that they did not abide by the right criteria when they chose winners like Barack Obama.  The jury may be out on that one for a while but the rest of us know Barack Obama did not earn it.
