RightChange: Obama Is Focused On All The Wrong Things
Tue, August 30, 2011Obama’s singular focus is now on job creation after 30 straight months of terrible job reports. There are currently 13.9 million people out of a job with 6.2 million of those people being jobless for over 27 weeks. Those numbers do not even include the number of people who have exited the labor force completely – which is so high that it caused the unemployment rate to fall from 9.2%-9.1% because the population ratio decreased. Millions of people are losing faith in the job market because they see Washington doing whatever they can to make Americans dependent on the government. Obama is focused, as Americans are fixated on job creation – and the policies put forth by the Obama administration prove it.
President Obama is focused because he knows he has to be. He says he is focused and committed but he is focused on all of the wrong things. During the campaign, he focused on speeches about change and hope without focusing on a plan to bring us hope and change.
He focused on a trillion dollar healthcare package that has burdened job creators at a time when we simply did not have the money to pay for it. He focused on a trillion dollar stimulus plan that pumped taxpayer money into the economy that caused the unemployment rate to soar higher. He focused on a trillion dollar monetary policy that caused the stock market to plunge and investors to hold their money instead of pumping it into the economy. His new focus is on a jobs plan that spends taxpayer money on pork-barrel projects and implements new regulations that will cost billions of dollars:
“President Obama says seven proposed federal regulations could cost $1 billion or more apiece, but they may not be approved.
Responding to a request from House Speaker John Boehner for a list of proposed regulations that could cost at least $1 billion a year, Obama wrote that cost estimates are approximate and the rules' final fate in doubt.
Topping the list: the Environmental Protection Agency's proposed changes to ozone standards, which could cost as much as $90 billion a year. The others, all from the EPA or the Department of Transportation, range from $1 billion to $10 billion.”
We forgot to mention his focus on the EPA that puts unnecessary regulatory burdens on companies that kills jobs and create inefficiency in the energy sector. Every focused initiative Obama has acted on has made the economy worse and in the next couple of days, he will reveal his new focus - which will be toned policies that have already failed in the past. Let’s hope Americans remained fixated on Obama’s policies that have failed to bring us the change we want to see.
