RightChange: Obama Flashback: Libya Timeline
Fri, May 27, 2011You can trust one thing about President Barack Obama, if he says something; he means it – until he doesn’t. He promised immigration reform twice, he said he would put the healthcare negotiations on C-SPAN, and he said he would make this the most transparent government in History – just to name a few. The list of broken pledges piles higher each day.
Here is a recent example regarding our war kinetic military involvement in Libya.
Just over two months ago President Obama was questioned on our military involvement in Libya:
“President Obama told a bipartisan group of members of Congress today that he expects the U.S. would be actively involved in any military action against Libya for "days, not weeks," after which he said the U.S. would take more of a supporting role, sources tell ABC News.”
Fast forward to three months later, Obama changed the timeline to: indefinitely.
This is exactly why members of Congress wanted to have approval in the first place. Here is a video of Rand Paul highlighting another Obama flashback - Candidate Obama pledging to get a vote from Congress if he want to war:
Perhaps if Obama would have stuck to his campaign promise, Congress could have set a reasonable timetable. You can add these to the list of things Obama promised to do. If the polls start reflecting America’s disapproval with his backtracking on Libya, expect a press conference from Obama to “clarify” how you heard him incorrectly.
I am hoping that Obama’s broken campaign promises will motivate his voters to NOT vote for him come November ‘12.
Man, its easy to criticize Bush, but when Obama supporters see Obama slipping into the same pattern, they easily look the other way. Such a double standard. What good has Obama done!?
Another day, another broken promise courtesy of our wonderful president. Can’t say that I’m surprised we’ve gotten so involved in Libya- just like I’m not surprised that his government is a little more opaque than he originally guarunteed.
