RightChange: Iran Willing to Perform Terrorist Attack On U.S. Soil
Wed, February 01, 2012Ron Paul supporters and those that support Obama’s appeasement foreign policy be warned: U.S. intelligence report finds that Iran is prepared to launch a terrorist attack on American soil.
“An assessment by U.S. spy agencies concludes that Iran is prepared to launch terrorist attacks inside the United States, highlighting new risks as the Obama administration escalates pressure on Tehran to halt its alleged pursuit of an atomic bomb.
In congressional testimony Tuesday, U.S. intelligence officials indicated that Iran has crossed a threshold in its adversarial relationship with the United States. While Iran has long been linked to attacks on American targets overseas, U.S. officials said they see troubling significance in Tehran’s alleged role in a plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador in Washington last year.
U.S. officials said they have seen no intelligence to indicate that Iran is actively plotting attacks on U.S. soil. But Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper Jr. said the thwarted plot “shows that some Iranian officials — probably including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei — have changed their calculus and are now more willing to conduct an attack in the United States in response to real or perceived U.S. actions that threaten the regime.”
Those that question Iran’s intent to harm the United States should reflect back to October of last year when the FBI disrupted Iran’s plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador by bombing a restaurant in Washington, D.C. If that isn’t alarming enough, they should reflect back to December 2011 when Iran captured a U.S. drone that contained U.S. intelligence and refused to give it back. Iran has also threatened to close the strategic Strait of Hormuz oil route. How many threatening actions are we going to take before Iran follows through?
Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Iran was probably one year away from being able to build a bomb. They have moved undeterred towards that nuclear program with an occasional trade sanction placed on them by the Obama administration. Iran is clearly getting more aggressive because they think nobody will stand up to them.
Our economic problems at home have caused us to turn our eyes away from the rest of the world. If we do not stand up to Iran, we are going to have bigger problems than just the economy.
