RightChange: How Democrats View Jobs

Never mind that people are dropping out of the workforce like flies; if there is a bipartisan energy plan that does anything besides shell out taxpayer money to fund solar panels and high-tech batteries, Obama and the Democrats think it is a waste.  Even 20,000 instant American jobs are viewed as irrelevant.

“Chicago Democratic Rep. Jan Schakowsky (Ill.) drew fire from Sen. Dan Coats (R-Ind.) on Wednesday when she dismissed the proposed Keystone XL oil pipeline, suggesting the 20,000 jobs it could create were relatively insignificant in the scheme of the greater economy.

“Twenty thousand jobs is really not that many jobs, and investing in green technologies will produce that and more,” she said on Chicago’s WLS Radio Don Wade and Roma Show on Wednesday morning. “But I’ll tell you what, you know it seems to me that the Republicans would rather have an issue than a pipeline.”

Coats, a vocal proponent of the project, which would transport oil from Alberta, Canada, to America’s Gulf Coast, swiftly responded in a separate interview on the same show later on Wednesday morning, suggesting Schakowsky has spoken insensitively.”

The Keystone XL Pipeline does a couple things to ease our economic woes.  Since Obama and his environmentalists refuse to drill at home, a Canadian company offered to drill a pipeline that would deliver oil from Canada straight to the Gulf of Mexico.  It was a project that was approved in 2010 and had bipartisan support.  The State Department even ruled it would have “no significant impact” on the environment.  It would decrease gas prices and create 20,000 instant jobs as well as thousands of spin-off jobs.

After the environmental lobbyists made a huge stink about it this year, it became a costly political issue for President Obama who is facing a tough reelection.  Mr. Obama rejected their permit and TransCanada decided to take their business to China.

When you’re the President or Congresswoman presiding over an economy that has failed to create enough jobs to bring down the unemployment rate, it is completely out of touch to reject ANY plan that creates instant jobs.  Especially when they don’t harm the environment.

Instead, Obama and Democrats like Jan Schakowsky would rather put people out of jobs by “investing” in bankrupted green energy companies like Solyndra.  Our campaigner in chief must think that no jobs are better than jobs that cost him his job.  Leaders that view any job as insignificant in this economy deserve to lose their own.
