RightChange: Daddy Obama Scolds Kiddy Congress Again

President Obama loves to take on the role as playing the Father of the United States as he consistently uses the bully pulpit to scold Congressional leaders for not leading on the issues that he has failed to lead on.  Despite being disengaged from the entire debt ceiling debate up until a few weeks, Mr. Obama held his second press conference today where he told Congressional leaders to “eat their peas.”

Last week he told Congress to learn a lesson from his daughters and “do their homework.”  This week, he wants them to “eat their peas.” What’s next week’s lesson going to be?  Wash behind their ears?  Someone needs to tell him that the Daddy Obama gig is getting old.  Especially when he is acting more like a deadbeat Dad than anything else – dramatically showing up last minute doesn’t negate your extended absence.

The only reason Mr. Obama intervened in the first place is because Republicans urged him to do so.  This has been the case on every single issue since Obama took office: immigration, the budget, the deficit, Iran’s 2009 elections, Libya, Afghanistan, and the BP oil spill.  Showing up last minute with a cute little speech about band-aids, peas, homework and car keys does not give Obama credibility.

Instead of using all these clever metaphors, I would just appreciate it if Obama could work towards fixing these problems rather than just talking about them.

Obama is THE President of the United States. He should be involved at all times, and take it upon himself- the Repubs should NOT be having to urge him to get involved- it is pitiful. He needs to man up and take some responsibility for his country.
