RightChange: 1,000-Day Anniversary Of No Budget From The Do-Nothing Senate Democrats
Tue, January 24, 2012Somewhere, someplace, David Ramsey listeners are pounding their heads on their desks. It has been 1,000 days since the Democratic led Senate produced a blueprint for the government to operate financially. That’s two years and 270 days 142.857 weeks, and 24,000 hours the government has operated without any limits on how to spend our money.
Tonight, Obama will blame Congress for the failure of fiscal responsibility in his STOTU – and he is partly right in that. But, he should be adamant about omitting House Republicans from that criticism.
What the Senate failed to do in 1,000 days, House Republicans did in less than 100 days. Thanks to House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI), they passed a 2012 budget resolution that cut $5.8 trillion from current spending levels, and reformed the programs that are the biggest drivers of our debt. While fulfilling their constitutionally duty of producing a budget, they also managed to pass 27 bipartisan jobs bills. What the Senate didn’t want to be bothered with, the House did in less than a fourth of the time.
When Obama calls for more spending in the next four years, remember that his own Senate is incapable of figuring out a way to pay for it.
