Right Change: Democrats, Dead Voters, and Downed Enthusiasm
Wed, July 25, 2012Between Dodd-Frank, Obamacare, the Stimulus package, and the Do-Nothing Democratic Senate, Democrats have been desperate in their attempts to gain voters after the Republican tidal wave in November 2010. Latest polls show Democratic voters are less excited to vote than usual in the coming presidential election. Maybe the crazy spending, down economy, record debt, and soaring gas prices have something to do with it?
“Democrats are significantly less likely now (39%) than they were in the summers of 2004 and 2008 to say they are "more enthusiastic about voting than usual" in the coming presidential election. Republicans are more enthusiastic now than in 2008, and the same as in 2004.
These results are based on a July 19-22 USA Today/Gallup poll. They suggest a shift in Republicans' and Democrats' orientation to voting in the coming presidential election compared with the last two, with Republicans expressing more voting enthusiasm. The current 51% to 39% Republican advantage in voter enthusiasm is slightly larger than the 53% to 45% GOP advantage Gallup measured in February of this year.”

The lack of confidence that the Democrats have is showing in more ways than one. Mitt Romney’s team is asking the Attorney General of Virginia, Ken Cuccinelli, to investigate voter forms that were being sent to deceased relatives, children, family pets, and others ineligible to vote.
From the Richmond Times-Dispatch:
“The errant mailings from the Washington-based nonprofit group Voter Participation Center have befuddled many Virginia residents, leading to hundreds of complaints.
The organization has been mass-mailing the forms — pre-populated with key information such as names and addresses — to primarily Democratic-leaning voting blocs such as young adults, unmarried women, African-Americans and Latinos.
In a letter to Cuccinelli's office and the State Board of Elections, Kathryn Bieber, an attorney for the Romney campaign, calls for an investigation into the matter by law-enforcement officials, claiming that the mailings appear to violate "at least one and maybe several Virginia laws aimed at ensuring a fair election."
A spokesperson for Cuccinelli says the State Board of Elections must initiate the request for them to investigate this potential case of voter fraud and the SBE has not made a request as of yet. These elections are and are about to get ugly, people. When Democrats get desperate for votes, there is no line they won’t cross. You can expect stories like these to keep coming out for the rest of the year.
