“No New Taxes” says New Jersey Governor

New Jersey has raised taxes an unbelievable 115 times. In spite of pressure to raise taxes again, Republican Governor Chris Christie says no new taxes for New Jersey.

"We're very confident we've been able to close the additional budget gap in (fiscal year) 2010 and in (fiscal year) 2011 we're going to be able to solve that problem without any new taxes at all and without any real significant cuts," Christie said.

Skipping the "fiscalese," what happened was the budget freeze imposed by Gov. Christie when he took office generated more savings than expected, enough to cover much of the lost tax money.


"I think we're going to be fine," Christie said.

Unsustainable Trend

In a USA Today article University of Michigan economist Donald Grimes says the trend of private business paychecks shrinking and government-provided benefits growing is not sustainable.

"Reason: The federal government depends on private wages to generate income taxes to pay for its ever-more-expensive programs. Government-generated income is taxed at lower rates or not at all, he says. "This is really important," Grimes says."

63% of Americans Favor Repealing Obamacare

A New Rasmussen Poll shows that 63% of Americans are now in favor of repealing Obamacare. Only 32% oppose repeal.

Scott Brown Stumping for Tim Burns in PA

Brown appeared at a campaign stop at the Washington County Courthouse just south of Pittsburgh Friday afternoon in support of fellow Republican Tim Burns.

Brown spoke of the need to have a businessman like Burns to help strengthen the economy and bring much needed jobs back to the region."We need Tim Burns in Congress to reign in spending, create more jobs and get America back on the right track," said Brown’s political adviser, Eric Fehrnstrom.
